The new iPod nano. Now rocking with a video camera, a polished anodized aluminum finish, and a larger screen. Also making its debut: FM radio with Live Pause!
With the same memory capacity as the 4th generation, and the same cool shape and size, the 5th generation iPod Nano now sports a larger screen (2.2 inches at 376x240 resolution) for a better widescreen experience, an FM radio, a camera, built in microphone and a pedometer. The 5th generation Nano also has a built-in accelerometer to switch orientation of the screen and allow you to watch your movies like you should!
Although the difference in screen size might not sound like a lot, Apple has taken advantage of the extra space by enlarging the fonts and placing more space between the menu items. Because of the larger screen, the touch wheel has been made smaller and moved down but is no harder to use than the previous version.
Using the new video camera couldn't be easier - press button and shoot! You can also add effects to the video as you shoot it. You can use 15 different video effects (plus a Normal setting). Among the effects you’ll find are the descriptively named Sepia, Black & White, Film Grain, Cyborg, Kaleido, Twirl, and Stretch. Keep in mind that the effects are permanent, however—they are added as you shoot and can’t be removed. To shoot in portrait mode just stand the Nano on its head - it's clever enough to know that it’s standing on its head and when you transfer the video to iPhoto or any equivalent application, the clips will appear right-side up.
The 5th Generation iPod Nano 16GB holds up to 4,000 songs in 128-Kbps AAC format or up to 14,000 iPod-viewable photos or up to 16 hours of video with up to 24 hours of music playback or 5 hours of video playback on one charge. (setting dependent).
